Volunteer Abroad Program: Global Medical Brigades

Location: Panama

Study Abroad Experience:My experience was phenomenal. We served 800+ patients over the course of 1 week. We shadowed doctors, dentists, and pharmacists at different stations. We set up health clinics in schools of local communities. We received hands-on experience at each station and gained further knowledge about medical information. We also did outreach to the children of the community by teaching them good hygiene practices. Aside from the work aspect, we also engaged in the Panamanian culture and saw parts of the beautiful country. I was able to practice my spanish as it is a spanish-speaking country. We also had a humbling experience while staying there as we did not stay in hotels, but in compounds in the country.
